Let's Build A Gingerbread House!

Some NKHS German students choose to work with, what in German is called, "the cake of life," or gingerbread, and my -- can they be creative! Every single structure, from igloo, to chalet, to lighthouse, to stadium, to barn, to sled, to castle, to shed, is totally unique, absolutely awesome, and simply delicious.

Are there prizes? Our German Club make a big effort to award just about every participant. But these are the three biggest prizes:
• Das Gretel Haus (third place);
• Das Hänsel Haus (second place); and
• Das Meister Knusperhaus (The Champion Gingerbread House).

For inspiration, take a look at a few of our recent favorites:

  1. I think this was a good idea I had fun making my gingerbread house even though it fell apart.

  2. The first time I had ever made a ginger bread house was last year with maggie, her sister and her sister's friends. We stayed up until midnight to finish it not that we could have gone to bed earlier what with all the candy we ate. My candy of choice that night was Nerds. We tried to make our house look like Whoville, the village from the Grinch who stole Christmas. I have to say it came out pretty good. Considering this is the first time I have ever done something like this I was very proud of our house getting 3rd place. I know the year before though that Kari, Maggie's sister, and her friends got 1st the year before. I hope to be able to build house this year as well.
