Austrian to Attempt to Break the Sound Barrier

Felix Baumgartner prepares for record shattering Free-Fall from a helium balloon.

Er will als erster Mensch sein, der die Schallmauer durchbricht.
He wants as 1st person to be, who the sound barrier breaks through.

Warum spricht Felix Baumgartner aus Österreich nicht Deutsch?

Hier geht's auf Englisch los:

Wann?  Bald!

  1. Has anyone heard about the guy who skydived from the edge of space recently?

  2. He just did it today and he broke two of the three records set: the fastest freefall and the highest human in a balloon. I can't believe he did it. Congratulations to him!

  3. Watched it live yesterday. There were so many people watching the Youtube stream that Youtube had to stop letting people in a quarter of the way through, and Discovery turned off the sound when he jumped so you couldn't hear the screams of terror and German profanities.

Top speed was well over 800 miles an hour, and top altitude was just over 128000 feet. He almost broke the sound barrier twice.

  4. This so awesome. I probably will never ever do this in my life, but is it so cool for him.

  5. Did anyone else see that NBC had a false banner during their coverage that said he broke the speed of sound

  7. I can't believe that he actually did it and didn't get hurt. It took so long to plan and the man who previously broke the record was the one who helped him. I just think the whole thing is so interesting.
