From July 29 to August 4, 2012, thirteen 7-16 language
teachers met on the picturesque campus of the College of
the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine to participate in the annual Deutsche Woche,
an immersion seminar. Gisela Hoecherl-Alden (Boston University) led daily workshops on "Film
und Fernsehen im Deutschunterricht".
All week long the
participants discussed various ways of integrating the teaching of film,
commercials and television in to their language classes. They left with newly
forged or renewed friendships, as well as many new ideas and materials to
implement in their classes, ready to embark on a new school year.
As in past
years, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany sponsored the
annual lobster dinner and was represented by Peter-Paul Henze.
