Panoramic Spherical Camera --German Design

A researcher in Berlin has created a toy for those who feel limited by having just two eyes. The Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera is a handheld foam-filled sphere that takes 360-degree panoramic photographs when it's tossed in the air. The ball camera -- which is the brainchild of Jonas Pfeil at the Technische Universität -- relies on 36 2-megapixel camera lenses and an accelerometer to snap three dozen images at once, then merges them into a single picture. 1. We've had this technology for a while (NASA etc use it a lot) but I think this is probably the first time they've done a complete sphere. (Well, NASA probably has, but their stuff costs a few million dollars and can only function in orbit.)

  7. The German people are absolute geniuses. Why can't we think of something like that. Something simple yet amazing in so many ways.

  8. I've always thought panorama shots were amazing, but a spherical panorama is even cooler! I'd save up my money to buy an invention like this.
